# 23 I have Finished

Its over......I have enjoyed the learning experience

I was amazed at the amount of information out there in web world and it is all available to any of us anytime. The amount of new terminology I have gained is huge. The wikis, the blogs, RSS feeds, Technorati and many more, especially Flikr which was fun and very useful in my day to day life. I was so proud of myself when I learnt a new "THING". I would squeal with delight and my son thought it was cool that I was coming into the "no"

But I can see a whole new use for the internet at work. Through the Learning 2.0 program I have gained a basic understanding of these applications and in library land their uses are endless. I am glad I had the oppurtunity to take part in the program and now feel a whole lot more comfortable with the new things I have learnt.

# 22 Downloadable audio books

I had a look at the sites suggested here and really liked the idea of having audio books available 24/7 but I dont know how tech savy our oldies at the library are. I feel it might be some what restricting to the oldies who are not that up to it but it would be great for the patrons who listen to audio books while travelling or who just enjoy that medium they can download them when ever they want to.

I personally tried to listen to audio books while travelling to Queensland but found it somewhat distracting and some of the readers put me to sleep but I can see the need for them and this way of downloading them seems great.

#21 Podcasts, smodcasts

Last year I listened to my sons podcast he did at school. It was the sports results from the inter district school competition. I was so impressed with what they were doing at school but I never really had a chance to go into it further.

During this learning session I spent alot of time searching for something interesting and waiting for it to load...............................................................................
but when it was podcasting I really enjoyed it.

I found the directories easy to use and do my searches on but when I tried to feed my podcast to my bloglines account it came back with an error message saying it was timed out which probably means it was congested or down understandably so as I was trying to download a Harry Potter podcast.

I can see how podcasting would be beneficial for intructional applications like our Web 2.0 learning and I think it would be great in a library situation. When we advertise author talks on our home page we could podcast an interview with the author and allow our patrons a taste of whats to come. Or we could have podcasts where a review is given for a popular book set up on our home page. It could really work in that area as some people respond better to listening than reading info all the time.

#20 You Tube

Check out this cute little guy who isnt so little any more Happy 1st Birthday Knut. ">
I never really had much to do with You Tube but today I lost hours just playing around viewing other peoples videos about stuff I am interested in. You can find anything you want serious stuff and funny stuff. I can see why kids get addicted to watching the videos, there is always something new.
If you had to do a presentation at work in the library I am sure you could come up with something which would enhance you presentation from You Tube with no problem at all. Even where they show how libraries have changed over time is a great way to get people interested in going to the library because now it is such a great place to go.

#19 Web 2.0 awards

Most of the sites are sites we investigated during our learning. So I had a look at some that were new to me. Of course I went straight to the fun stuff and had a look at this interesting site - true stories in one sentence, check it out here
I thought it was a great concept.
I also had a look at a health site with good links, alot of info on health and nutrition.

I am just glad I have been introduced to all these great sites out there which can be very beneficial. I am sure I will be able to recommend some sites such as Zoho writer to our patrons.
